How to measure whether your signature banner is actually working

· 4 min read

A banner with no way to measure it is a guess dressed up as a channel. You don't need to know who clicked to know whether a campaign is worth keeping running — you need to know how many clicks it got, and whether that changed when you swapped the creative.

How the tracked link works

Applying a campaign to a signature swaps its plain destination link for a tracked one. Clicking it logs the click against that campaign and redirects the person to the real destination in one step — nothing about the click is visible to them, and nothing slows the redirect down meaningfully.

What gets recorded, and what deliberately doesn't

Each click logs which campaign it belongs to and when it happened. That's the whole record — no IP address, no identity, no way to connect a click back to a specific recipient.

This is a deliberate boundary, not a missing feature: comparing campaigns against each other only requires counts, and recipient-level tracking would mean profiling people who never agreed to be tracked, which isn't a trade worth making for a signature banner.

Reading the numbers

The analytics view shows 7-day and 30-day totals plus a per-day chart, alongside a per-campaign table so you can compare one creative or offer against another directly.

Judge a banner relative to its own past performance and to your other campaigns, not against a number pulled from somewhere else — click behaviour depends heavily on your audience and how often you email them, so an external benchmark tells you less than your own history does.

Acting on what you see

A campaign with a flat, low click rate across its whole run is a signal to change the creative or the offer, not to keep it live out of habit. A campaign that spikes right after launch and tails off fast suggests it was seen by the same regular correspondents once and then stopped registering — a natural point to retire it, which a scheduled end date does on its own.

Frequently asked

Can I see which specific person clicked a banner?+

No, by design. Clicks are logged against the campaign only, with no recipient identity attached — the tool can tell you how many people clicked, not who.

Does click tracking slow down or change the banner's link?+

The visible destination is unaffected — recipients land on the same page you set. The only change is that the link routes through a redirect that logs the click first, which adds no noticeable delay.
